Mt 7
It starts with “Do not judge and you will not be judged”. He goes on to say that you will be judged with the same measure with which you judge. Many people often misunderstand this as not to Judge others. If you further down Jesus says that if we take out the plank from our eye, we will see clear enough to take the speck out of your brothers eye. So we can take out the speck out of other eye, we can judge others. It does come with the IF clause, only if you take the plank out of your eyes.
When someone does a wrong thing in our neighborhood, some of us tend to say ,” it is none of my business, God said not tot judge so I am not going to say anything”.
James 4:17 Anyone who knows what is good and doesn’t do it, sins
So knowing the right thing to do and not doing it is considered as sin of omission.
Whom should we judge?
1 Cor: 5:12, 13 Why should I Judge outsiders? But you, are you not to judge those who are in side? Let God judge those who are outside, but as for you, drive out the wicked person among you.
First judge the insiders, judge the people in your family, them your fellowship and don’t worry about the pagans outside. Let God the heavenly father judge them.
Do you think you are not ready for it?
1 Cor: 6:2-5 Do you know that you shall one day judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you incapable of judging such simple problems?
Do you not know that we will even judge the angels? And could you not decide every day affair? But when you have ordinary cases to be judged, Is there not even one among you wise enough to be the arbiter among believers.
Is this good news. We have to judge the world and even the angels. He asks us if you were to judge the whole world cant you manage the daily affairs. He further asks us to bring our cases and disputes to one among ourselves who are wise enough.
Ok. So how do we judge?
Jn: 7:24 Do not judge by appearances, but according to what is right.
God says do not judge by outward appearances but by what is right.
Dt 1: 16, 17 And I gave this order to the judges: ‘Attend to the complaints of your brothers and judge with justice the lawsuit between an Israelite and his brother, or between an Israelite and a foreigner who lives in your midst. Do not be influenced by anyone when you judge, but listen to the poor and the rich alike, to the powerful as well as the weak, and do not be afraid of anyone because you act in the place of God’.
God gives an order. It is not a request or like try to do it, it is an order. He says attend to the complaints and give a fair decision on the basis of laws. Not on the basis of how you are or on the basis of your likes and dislikes but on the basis of the laws and truths and when you judge be a fair judge and listen of all equally. Look at both the sides of the coin before you act upon it.
Lord Jesus Christ too judged the people in the church who were making the church a den of thieves. He boldly took the wip and struck them hard. We should be that bold people and be ready to strike the insiders going against the word of God. We should judge them by the word of God.
There are two types of judgment
1) Righteous judgment
2) Un righteous judgment
Every judgment made on the basis of laws and the truth fall under righteous judgment and every other thing fall under un-righteous judgment.
There should be no misinterpretations and no people pleasing in your judgment.
Remove the plank from your eyes and judge people first inside your fellowship and not by appearances but by truth and don’t be partial says the Lord. Amen
